Notes - Hannah witnessed three marriages performed by John Langhorn:
John Davy and Sophy Hoffnal, 22 Nov 1787
John Caldwell and Juliana Miller, 11 Mar 1788
William Ashley and Margaret Buck, 6 Jul 1788.
Hannah and Cornelius were married by Reverend John Langhorn. The witnesses were Thomas Davy, Russell Hawley, John Caldwell and Henry Davy.
Hannah Brass, alias Davy, daughter of Peter Davy late private in the 2nd Battalion Royal Yorkers, and married to Cornelius Brass, petitioned for 200 Acres which was granted on 10 March 1791. There is no evidence that the land was received. On 19 October 1801 Hannah Davy now Asselstine, daughter of Peter Davy of Ernestown petitioned for 200 Acres and swore on the Bible that she had never received any land from the Crown.

"It is probably safe to assume that Cornelius Brass died and Hannah then married Isaac Asselstine. However, the first Hannah signed her petition 'Hannah Brass alias Davie' while the second signed with her mark. Hannah Asselstine swore on the Holy Evangelist before a J. P. that she never received lands from the Crown. This could show (1) that she could not be Hannah Brass on the basis of the first petition; or (2) she was known to have filed an earlier petition as Hannah Brass but never received the lands she was allotted 10 years earlier.
